Leading the way for empowered woman in business

Meet entrepreneur Zama Memela, the 26 year-old CEO of Gambu Security which is a 100% black-owned, 100% women-owned, and 100% youth-owned company leading the way and setting trends for African woman in a predominantly male-dominated industry.

Zama Memela’s base of operations is in Port Shepstone on the Kwa-Zulu Natal South Coast. Her company employs over 60 staff members, at various sites in the province and everyday this young woman steers the company into sustainability and growth. In a country with over 70% youth unemployment at 26 years old Zama is an example of what is possible when young people set their minds to business and entrepreneurship.

Zama is passionate about empowering young women in business and entrepreneurship and lives by the slogan “Be fearless in the pursuit of what sets your soul on fire.” She aims to inspire women from all walks of life to go for their dreams with unwavering determination and courage.

Zama embraces this philosophy,  which was evident in her role as special guest speaker at the  “Ladies Elegant Tea” event which was held at the Port Shepstone Civic Center on Saturday 3 August. The purpose of the event was to empower a woman in business and was attended by the likes of Mayor Cynthia Mqwebu and Prophetess Nomusa  Dhlomo

Zama was also featured in the 5th issue of the Enspired Women Magazine, where she shared about her personal journey as a female entrepreneur. Zama is a rasing inspirational woman’s who’s ambition, drive and motivation are limitless.
The South Coast Chamber of Commerce, recently also welcome Zama as their lastest executive committee members, who promote business success by being the leaders in economic and community development in the region. “We are the voice of business”
Young women from all walks of life can take inspiration from this remarkable young businesswoman who is not afraid of the responsibilities that come from being an empowered woman.
